Rooftop Survival Hideout

A quiet study of survival, absence, and the fragile comfort of temporary shelter. Twenty stories above an abandoned city, this rooftop hideout holds the small systems that make solitude bearable: folded blankets, stored water, canned food, tools, and traces of people who may never return.

The image is built from a first-person viewpoint, as if discovered through an old smartphone camera. Its imperfect exposure, wet concrete, damaged skyline, and improvised barriers keep the scene grounded in a human reality rather than a polished post-apocalyptic fantasy.

The missing-person wall becomes the emotional centre: a reminder that even in collapse, memory is still organised, pinned up, and protected. This daily creative work explores how a space can tell a story without showing a single person.

Prompt

Realistic first person POV, vertical smartphone format, human eye level, inside a rooftop survival hideout atop a tall abandoned downtown building, 20 stories up, soft overcast daylight, subtle post apocalyptic atmosphere 1–2 years after collapse. Foreground: rooftop doorway edge or handrail, weathered cracked surface. Shelter: salvaged tarp roofing, improvised wooden supports, fabric wind barriers. Inside: neatly rolled sleeping bags, folded blankets, organized crates, lockboxes, canned food, flashlights, batteries, rope, tools. Water storage: blue plastic jugs only. Makeshift posting wall: faded missing person photos, handwritten notes, pinned survivor photographs. Background: surrounding skyscrapers, abandoned skyline, distant rooftops below. Perimeter: reinforced access door, tied barriers, noise traps, improvised fencing. Rooftop: rust stains, scattered debris, decay. Atmosphere: hidden, lonely, emotionally human, temporarily safe. Shot on older iPhone 7, slight lens distortion, imperfect exposure. No people, no zombies, no cinematic framing, no CGI, no anime.
